Robert Preston, Craigmillar LLC

Robert Preston, founder of the investment firm, Craigmillar LLC, is so optimistic about prospects for renewable energy companies in 2003 that his firm launched the fund Craigmillar Energy LP to focus solely on publicly traded global sustainable energy companies. In an article on SolarAccess.com, he says, "I am confident these stocks can outperform the S&P 500 index."

He believes that sustainable energy companies will benefit from the "ongoing decentralization and de-carbonization of our globally structured, energy sources." The fund will invest power technology, sustainable fuels, hydrogen storage, advanced materials and energy recycling. Companies include: Intermagnetics General Corporation and American Superconductor Corporation (improved power delivery on the grid); Air Products & Chemicals, Praxair Inc. and BP PLC. (fossil fuel companies that eliminate or sequester their emissions); Bekaert ECD Solar Systems and AstroPower (companies that supply renewable energy to utilities required to purchase it as part of state renewable energy portfolios); Ballard Power Systems, Proton Energy Systems and Nuvera (fuel cell technology).
